Qualifications:
HS diploma or equivalent, Associates Degree or degree in criminal justice preferred. Missouri Class A POST Certification required or current enrollment in a police academy with successful graduation before date of hire; valid driver’s license; minimum age 21; looking for someone with good character, independent judgment in emergencies, strong writing skills, and ability to work with a diverse public. Physical Requirements: Binocular vision correctable to 20/30, able to recognize forced whisper at 5 feet with correction, ability to successfully complete job specific physical skills test.

Job Description and Wage Information:
$18.43 per hour, $38,334 annually starting salary for Missouri Class A POST certified candidates. The City of Grandview, MO has immediate openings for Missouri Class A POST Certified Police Officers. The City of Grandview is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

Position Summary:
Grandview, MO is a first tier suburb in the KCMO metropolitan area with a population of 25,000. GVPD is a CALEA certified, cutting-edge department of 70full time employees with 55 sworn officers performing the challenging work of law enforcement and community service. Opportunities at GVPD include: A Traffic Unit, Motorcycle Assignment, SWAT Team Member, Investigations, A Special Operations Unit, Assignments at the Jackson County Drug Task Force and the FBI Computer Forensic Crime Lab, School Resource Officers, and DARE Assignment.

The Patrol Division operates on 12 hour shifts with three day weekends off, twice a month. Equipment: Patrol rifles, Tactical shotguns, Glock handguns, low mileage vehicles, in-car MDT laptops, WiFi in-car digital video, computerized booking, and Live Scan fingerprinting. Salary & Benefits: All weapons, leather and uniforms are provided along with a cleaning allowance.

Process: The selection process includes a background investigation, credit check, written test, interview and oral board. Post-offer exam includes psychological, polygraph, drug screen, medical exam and physical agility test. The hiring process requires approximately six weeks to complete.
