Job Fair April 28th downtown KCMO

An unusual job fair planned for KC metro. This isn't your standard job fair. Ferrellgas Partners is sponsoring an open-to-the-public job fair, but it's not just to fill positions at Ferrellgas. The company already has at least 35 other employers lined up to staff booths.

And the booth reservation fee of $250 that companies are paying will go straight to the Women's Employment Network as a donation. Furthermore, the Marriott Downtown is donating the Imperial Ballroom in the Muehlebach Tower for the event -- scheduled for

1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on April 28th

It's free to job hunters, of course.
Timmi Zalatoris, staffing director at Ferrellgas, said they're preparing to handle up to 1,500 job hunters that afternoon, based on attendance at other recent job fairs in the metro area.

So why is Ferrellgas doing this? Zalatoris said the company wants to help the Women's Employment Network as well as the many job hunters in the community.

Ferrellgas, a Fortune 1000 company, is paying for advertising and marketing connected with the job fair and providing staff for the event. Job seekers interested in attending can find a list of participating companies online.

Zalatoris said booth space is still available. Interested employers should contact her at 913-661-1844.

By the way: The Women's Employment Network is a nonprofit organization that provides women with job-preparation skills to help them reach financial independence for themselves and their families.

The job fair, though, is broadly targeted for men and women at all levels of employment.

In addition to employers' booths, the job fair will include a career assistance area staffed by professional job recruiters and information booths staffed by representatives from area colleges.
