Qualifications:
Typing 35 wpm. High School diploma or equivalent. (The following minimum requirements can also be achieved through any equivalent combination of education and experience which provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.) Two years general office/clerical experience;ability to operate standard office machines, including a computer and typewriter; ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; ability to make sound decisions in accordance with laws, regulations, departmental policies and procedures; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; ability to understand complex procedures and determine and prepare material from such procedures; ability to work in an independent fashion, with minimal supervision; ability to work with individuals from a variety of cultural, economic and ethnic backgrounds. Job Description and Wage Information:
Wage: Salary range $11.45-$16.06 hourly. To perform advanced clerical work in a specific area of case processing, involving the filing, processing and disposition of cases. Review legal documents, social files, service, execution and various other legal documents and forms to ensure adequacy, completeness and accuracy; determine processing required and initiate action by specific document or area of service, which may involve determination and compilation of information, determination of parties to court action, etc.; determine proper routing of court orders, complaints, petitions, information packets, etc.; prepare various legal forms and documents such as judgments, orders, executions, warrants, and bonds, which may involve interviews with petitioners; determine docket schedule, assign court dates and appoint attorneys, as required by service area; enter pertinent initial and updated data relating to areas of service and case activity; perform photocopying of relative documents; answers inquiries from and provide information to the public, attorneys, staff, petitioners, and others concerning case information and related activity, by telephone or in person; utilize the computer to retrieve necessary information for concerned parties; maintain attorney lists and other relevant records; may sit in on court proceedings and assist the Judiciary, such as marking exhibits, swearing witnesses, etc.; record court records by operation of audiotape machine and maintain tapes, as required by area of service; perform filing duties; distribute judicial orders; act as relief for departmental or other employees; receipt monies; perform special projects; and perform related work as required.
