MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High school graduate or equivalent. Two years of trade school or equivalent training in plumbing, electrical, carpentry, paints and skilled trades. Must possess universal EPA certification in HVAC. Three years directly-related work experience in facility or plant maintenance. Experience must include one year of supervisory work in maintenance and work with applicable building codes. Must have valid drivers’ license from state of residence. If driving non-court vehicle for court business, must have valid auto liability insurance and properly licensed vehicle.

Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, carpentry, plumbing, HVAC and other maintenance methods; knowledge of fire safety codes and operation; knowledge of asbestos and mold issues; knowledge of public access and accommodations as related to ADA; knowledge of supervisory and personnel procedures. Operate a variety of hand and power tools, tractors, lawn and snow removal equipment in a safe and prudent manner; operate a personal computer; operate a cargo van. Ability to apply specialized knowledge to individual problems; ability to assign, schedule, supervise and review the work of others; ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; ability to work independently with minimal supervision; ability to supervise and train staff; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships; ability to lift and carry, push and pull job materials; ability to work in adverse weather and environmental conditions, such as noise, dust and fumes.

Must be able to provide proof of Universal EPA Certification in HVAC. All applicants for this position are subject to testing for illegal drug use prior to appointment. Job Description and Wage Information:
Wage: $1,353.60- $ 2,031.20 bi-weekly. POSITION PURPOSE AND EXAMPLES OF WORK: To oversee the operation, installation, maintenance and repair of physical structures and equipment. Supervise and perform scheduled, emergency and preventive maintenance functions, regarding the operation, installation, maintenance and repair of plumbing, mechanical and electrical systems, heating and air conditioning units, physical structures, appliances and equipment, as well as maintain grounds. Tour and inspect facilities to identify and schedule maintenance jobs to be performed; schedule, assign and coordinate staff; monitor and inspect jobs facilities to insure quality and timely work; troubleshoot problems; perform maintenance work to aid in completion of jobs; procure required materials and parts for jobs as necessary, which involves frequent pick up and delivery to job site; insure that jobs are done in compliance with established building codes and standards; coordinate code inspections; prepare and maintain various reports, logs, work orders, etc..; maintain a preventive maintenance routine; respond timely to emergency requests. Keep supervisor informed as to job status, staff requests, job costs, etc.; assist in the planning of jobs and projects; provide direct supervision and training to Maintenance staff; attend meetings and training.

Maintain communication with staff in regard to facility operation, problems; respond to staff requests. Determine costs for jobs, equipment and other operational improvements or changes; provide input and recommendations to reduce maintenance costs. Work involves working at multiple facilities requiring preventive and emergency maintenance repairs; facilities operate 24/7 and emergency repairs may be necessary at any time; due to property destruction by youth, jobs may need to be done repeatedly; maintain flexibility in scheduling based on emergencies and priorities.
