Part-time Advocacy Manager- National MS Society Mid America Chapter

Brief Overview To oversee the advocacy activities of those who are affected by multiple sclerosis. Recruit, train and mobilize a variety of volunteer activists to formulate and address a legislative agenda by collaborating with legislators, disability interests and coalitions.

Coordination of Statewide Effort in Kansas
  • Serves as advocacy manager coordinating public policy interest of the two chapters which comprise all counties in the state of Kansas- Mid America Chapter and All American Chapter
  • Reports to the Director of Programs, Mid America Chapter and works closely with other chapter staff and volunteers
  • As a new position, initial focus will be developing an effective organization of volunteer activists.

Travel Requirements This position requires some travel mainly to Topeka , Kansas City and occasionally other designated areas such as Washington DC to attend the annual Public Policy Conference

Education & Experience B.A. Degree from a four year university and one year of relevant experience and or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience Volunteer committee or outreach organization experience a plus.

Time and Compensation Part-time salaried employee Hours negotiable but might average 20 per week (more during legislative session of Jan-May), less out of session.
