New KCKCC program to help residents train for hotel industry

The HEART (Hospitality Education And Retail Training) Program provides curriculum, books, tuition, computers, and teachers—all free of charge, said Lori Trumbo, dean of continuing education.Graduates of the free program receive a higher earning potential, industry standard certifications, a marketable resume, job placement, ongoing guidance, and a sense of accomplishment . Both day and evening classes build skills in fields of customer service, communication, workplace ethics, business etiquette, leadership and career planning.

Upon completion, of the free HEART Project participants receive: Professional certification based on industry standards A pathway to employment into the expanding hospitality and retail industry Internships leading to potential long term employment Ongoing guidance, mentoring and career support Professional portfolio development
