Kansas Advocacy Manager - Part Time

Description

The person in this part-time salaried position will report to the Director of Programs, Mid America Chapter and oversee advocacy activities that address the needs of those who are affected by multiple sclerosis in the state of Kansas.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to recruiting, training and mobilizing a variety of volunteer activists to formulate and address a legislative agenda by collaborating with legislators,disability interest groups and coalitions. To communicate strategically with key audiences to enhance public programs and services for people living with multiple sclerosis. Serve as the Advocacy Manager coordinating the public policy interest of the two chapters which comprise all counties in the state of Kansas.

Qualifications

Critical Competencies include: Understanding of public policy and legislative processes, community program development and management, individual and group communications, volunteer development and management, above average computer skills to include all Microsoft, PDF and data base applications, display leadership, must be articulate and have excellent written skills. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. This position requires travel within Kansas and other designated areas as assigned. A Bachelor's degree from a four year university and one year of related experience with volunteer committees and/or community outreach organizations is required.
